Selling your home in a tough market

on Tue, 11/15/2011 - 12:55

In a depressed housing market, homeowners that are trying to sell obviously have to sell—whether it is because of a job loss, divorce, sickness, or perhaps relocation.

If you are trying to sell your home in this market, there is no second chance for a first impression. The three most important things that you can pay attention to are the kitchen, bathroom and a fresh paint job. Even if you can’t afford to remodel your Kitchen or Bathroom, a fresh coat of paint (interior and exterior painting) will greatly enhance the beauty of your home.  It will leave buyers less opportunity to negotiate when all of the eye-appealing objections are taken away.

I have invested in over a thousand properties in my lifetime--starting as a realtor for Century 21 Northlake and graduating to ReMax Combined in River Forest--and have been buying and selling properties since the Jimmy Carter era in 1978 when interest rates were 20%.

And for all you buyers--interest rates are at the all-time low and so are prices. You can afford to get the house you want and still have room in the budget to make the kitchen or bath the way you want it.
